POWER - PACKED POIGNANT

by Ron Adams

Thursday's Thought - Feb 6, 2002
The milk of human kindness never curdles.
Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
Proverbs 3:3
The only people you should try to get even with are
those who helped you.
So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all men,
and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.
Galatians 6:10
Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
Romans 12:17
Do all you can and trust in God to do what you cannot.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And do not lean on your own
understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Fault-finding is an exercise in futility.
When finished, nothing of value has been accomplished.
Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another,
because love covers a multitude of sins.
Be hospitable to one another without complaint.
1Peter 4:8-9

KneEmail ".
. . At the name of Jesus every knee should bow. . ." (Philippians
2:10)
by: Mike Benson, editor, Matt
Gehlhausen, managing editor
Maybe you've heard about the family
that became fed up with life in the big city, so they decided to move to
the country and try their hand at living in the wide open spaces.
Intending to raise beef cattle, the family purchased a large, western
ranch. About a month later, some friends came to visit and inquired as
to what they had named the ranch. The husband said, "Well, I was
partial to the Flying-W. My wife wanted to call it the Suzie-Q. One of
our sons liked the Bar-J and the other suggested the Lazy-Y. So we
compromised and now we call it the Flying-W, Suzy-Q, Bar-J, Lazy-Y
Ranch." When one of the friends asked, "Where are all of your
cattle?" The man replied, "Uh...we don't have any. None of
them survived the branding!"
THOUGHT: Some things should never be
compromised. That's especially true when it comes to our MORALS.

JESUS THROUGH THE
EYES OF A BLIND MAN
by Jim
Bullington
Message #34 - "Jesus through the Eyes of" series
Today's Little Lift - Feb 6, 2002
The Pharisee’s failed to get the
answers they wanted from the blind man, so they called for his parents.
Hear the sarcasm in their voices as they say, "Is this your son,
who you say was born blind? How then does he now see?" Listen
to their calm but less than candid response – "We know that
this is our son, and that he was born blind; but by what means he now
sees we do not know, or who opened his eyes we do not know. He is of
age; ask him. He will speak for himself." (John 9:19-21).
John adds a detail that sheds light on
the rest of the story. He says that the Jews had already agreed that if
anyone confessed that He [Jesus] was Christ, he would be put out of the
synagogue (v 22). The jury had reached their verdict; it was just a
matter of finding the right witnesses!
Round three of questioning! "So
they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, ‘Give God
the glory! We know that this Man [Jesus] is a sinner.’ He answered and
said, ‘Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know:
that though I was blind, now I see.’ Then they said to him again,
‘What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?’ He answered
them, ‘I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to
hear it again? Do you also want to become His disciples?’ Then they
reviled him and said, ‘You are His disciple, but we are Moses’
disciples. We know that God spoke to Moses; as for this fellow, we do
not know where He is from." (John 9:24-29).
"They reviled him!" What an
ungodly scene! Joy and thanksgiving should have been the emotional order
of the day; rather, ugly and demeaning comments were the result. Once
again, the former blind man drops back to what he knows. There are no
preconceived ideas that he has to support so he can see clearly. In
contrast, the Pharisees felt compelled to support their conclusions and
their eyes were clouded with doubt and suspicion. The man must have
thought to himself, "If this is what seeing is all about, strike me
blind!"
Mark well his cutting response – "Why,
this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He
has opened my eyes!" (v 30). A blind man could see and those
who could see were blind! (continued)

A HEAVENLY SURPRISE
Dedicated to our Widows at the Metro Church of Christ.
Composed by - Rick Woodall - May 25, 2001
I lived my life the best I could and faced the pearly
gate.
What a picture my eyes beheld knowing not my fate.
I wondered in my thoughts this time, whom would I get to see?
Would I see Abraham or Moses? The Sea of Galilee?
Would Paul speak and smile or would I see old John?
Which took me back to yesterday to years that are past and gone.
Is there a room for the gospel greats the best of the very best?
Would I see Baxter, Keeble or another who passed the test?
They would all be gathered from room to room - the hall so full of glee.
There would even be a reception room for greats with big degrees.
With carpet of gold and silver window frames my mind was thinking fast.
When all the sudden an angel came and took away my past.
"Come," he said and took my hand and we walked through
heaven's woods.
To a simple shack - I viewed as closer we came and stood.
A sign above the door - the description in gold leaf read.
"Here reside the gospel greats who now on earth are dead."
The old door creaked as we walked in and there to my surprise-
Were widows from my church making quilts of different size.
One was for the little boy who needed to stay warm.
One was for the infant girl brought home in winter's storm.
One was for the nursing home to comfort a dear old friend.
Another for a grand ole man too weak to raise his head.
The angel and I just stood there and tears swelled in our eyes.
For all of God's Gospel greats had caught me in surprise.
In heaven there's a grand ole song that's ringing through the town.
Through dedicated widows' lips who are now renowned.

DID YOU
EVER WONDER WHY?
By Sally Harris Cleghorn
WHEN HEARTACHES COME TO SOME FOLKS ~
DID YOU EVER WONDER WHY,
THEY SEEM TO BE SO STRONG
AND THEY NEVER SEEM TO CRY?
SOMETIMES THEY HURT AS MUCH AS WE ~
BUT NEVER SHOW THE PAIN.
BUT EVERYONE HAS TROUBLES,
WITH SUNSHINE AS WELL AS RAIN.
AN OPTIMISTIC SPIRIT ~
IS A WONDERFUL SIGHT TO SEE.
I LIKE TO HAVE IT HANG AROUND
SO IT RUBS OFF ON ME!
A SAD AND CRANKY ATTITUDE ~
IS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT.
WE NEED TO WORK ON ISSUES
THAT KEEP US SO UP TIGHT.
THE OTHER SIDE OF BEING SICK ~
IS THAT WE DIDN'T SURVIVE.
BE GRATEFUL FOR AN ACHE OR TWO,
AT LEAST WE ARE ALIVE!
LET'S PUT OUR FOCUS ON OUR SAVIOR ~
AS HE HUNG UPON THAT TREE;
OF HOW HE SACRIFICED FOR US,
SO OUR SOUL COULD BE SET FREE!
Sally Harris Cleghorn is
the secretary and does the bulletin for the
Hazel Park Church of Christ in Hazel Park, Michigan.

COMPLETE IN CHRIST
By Rose Ann Noey
We're complete in Christ; we do not need
Ouija boards or astrology.
Who needs worldly philosophy?
Your trust in Christ should lay.
Put the Lord first in your heart,
Then from man's gods you will depart.
Mystics throw a poison dart!
And we're not safe amid them.
Studying angels with our time;
Weak devotions fill our minds.
We don't seek and we don't find!
Can we grow this way?
To study and to contemplate
God's Word, we need to concentrate
Upon its truths and separate
God's truth from mankind's wisdom.
Complete in Christ, He'll make us free,
Open our eyes to help us see
How He's our life's one true deep need.
Make Christ your Lord today!
Rose Ann Noey worships with
the Yorktown Road Church of Christ in
Logansport, Indiana.

----quotes & sayings
for bulletins and signs this issue
The best way to get even is to forget.
To forgive is to set the prisoner free, and then discover the
prisoner was you.
You are richer today if you have laughed, given, or forgiven.
A successful marriage isn't just finding the right person. It's
being the right person.
Words are windows to the heart.
